A number of Swedish and African university partners, brought together by common interests, have been merged in intensive collaboration around the four themes of the conference. The result – eight workshops – will constitute the core of the conference.

The different workgroups are:

Theme 1: Sustainability and Change

  • Anders Törnqvist is Assistant Professor in Geography at Dalarna University, Sweden. He teaches Geography where SD issues are included. His research target sustainable land management in East Africa and how to map small-scale farming land using Mobile GIS. He arranges field work for teacher students linked to the above. – coordinator
  • Erica Righard is a research fellow in memory of Willy Brandt at Malmö Institute for Studies of Migration, Diversity and Welfare (MIM). She holds a position as a senior lecturer at the Department of Social Work at Malmö University, Sweden.
  • Lars Hartvigson is Senior Advisor at the University of Jönköping, Sweden. His responsibilities include designing and developing PhD programs in Economics and Management in collaboration with African partner Universities.
  • Margareta Popoola is associate professor at Malmö University, Sweden. She holds a PhD in Sociology, and is working as a lecturer in IMER (International Migration and Ethnic Relations) which is a very interdisciplanry field. Her main interest is focused on Migration, minorities and social issues in an urban context.
  • Patricia Jonason is Assistant Professor in Public Law at Södertörn University, Sweden. She teaches Administrative, European and Human Rights Law. Her research interests are the Right of Access to Information, Human Rights and Environmental Governance.

Theme 2: Learning, Technology and Globalization

  • Anders Høg Hansen is Senior Lecturer at Malmö University, Sweden. Keywords: Cultural Studies, Communication for Development, Living Archives research project, Public Memory, Heritage and Social Change. – coordinator
  • Mats Johnsson is Senior Lecturer at Malmö University, Sweden. His research is in the area of Physical Literacy where he use Le Parkour as a tool for understanding the PL. By using technology like phones/applications to understand Physical Literacy I have also put in to teaching and learning situations. –coordinator
  • Micke Rundberg is Adjunct and Web Producer at the master’s program in Communication for Development at Malmö University, Sweden.
  • Steve Kamassah is Deputy Registrar, International Relations and Public Affairs Division at the University of Education, Winneba, Ghana.
  • Vicensia Shule is a lecturer at the Department of Fine and Performing Arts, University of Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. Her areas of research and consultancy include film & theatre, gender and education in Tanzania and Africa.
  • Vivian Vimarlund is Professor in Informatics at Linköping University, Sweden.

Theme 3: Rights, Equality and Gender

  • Aage Radmann is a sport sociologist and an academic developer and Malmö University, Sweden. His main research areas cover sport and media, sport and violence, gender and masculinities, hooliganism, football culture. He has been teaching at the University of DAR/Tanzania 2006, 2007 and 2008.
  • Betty Akullu Ezati is Dean at the College of Education and External Studies, Makerere University, Kampala, Uganda.
  • Christina Kafulo is eLearning specialist at the Ministry of Education, Science Vocational Training and Early Education, Zambia.
  • Lena Andersson is Lecturer in Mathematics for Pre- and Primary School at Malmö university, Sweden. –coordinator
  • Gistered Muleya is Lecturer at the University of Zambia, Zambia.
  • Misheck Yagontha Munthali is Chief Lecturer in Development Studies and Manager for Open Learning Programs at Domasi College of Education in Malawi. He is responsible for planning as well as executing class room learning materials, supervision of Teacher Trainees, designing and delivering educationally relevant Continuous Professional Development (CPDs) Programs for Teachers in Malawi.
  • Noris Kelly Chirwa Mangulama is Director Child Rights at Malawi Human Rights Commission, Malawi.
  • Susanne Norrman is Director of Commissioned Education at Lund University, Sweden. She works with professional training programmes on Child Rights. More than 600 participants (50% from Africa) have gone through the training. They are now committed change agents working with Child Rights at ministries, universities and schools.
  • Susanna Hedenborg is professor at Malmö University, Sweden. Research interests include Sport science; Sport and gender, Children and youth sport, Sport history.

Theme 4: Quality

  • Aloysius Nnaji is the international coordinator responsible for international collaborations at the University of Skövde, Sweden.
  • Aissétou Dramé Yayé
 is the Executive Secretary of the African Network for Agriculture, Agroforestry and Natural Resources Education (ANAFE), a network comprising African colleges and universities teaching agriculture and natural resource sciences and made up of 137 member institutions in 35 countries. She is Lecturer on Forest Management and Entomology at the Abdou Moumouni University of Niamey (Niger).
  • Björn Åstrand is Senior Lecturer and Dean for teacher education and educational sciences at Karlstad University, Sweden. Research: history, history of education and educational sciences, currently on democracy and values in teacher education and comparative studies of recent transformation of school systems. –coordinator
  • Catherine Odora Hoppers, prof. – Department of Science and Technology( DST) / NRF SARCHI Chair in Development Education University of South Africa (UNISA).
  • Celestin Kayonga
  • Maria Pettersson, PhD, is head of international relations in teacher training programs at Dalarna University, Sweden. She teaches in teacher training courses and in Science Education. Her research interests are: Teacher training and Science Education.
  • Maria Koptjevskaja Tamm is a professor of General Linguistics and director of the Special PhD Programme in Language and Linguistics at the Faculty of Humanities, Stockholm University, Sweden. In her research she compares many languages of the world to understand what is possible in a human language.
  • Mussa I. Mgwatu is the Director of Quality Assurance Bureau at the University of Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. The Bureau is involved with monitoring and evaluation of all quality assurance processes.
  • Nana Aba Appiah Amfo is associate professor of linguistics and the Dean of the School of Languages at the University of Ghana, Ghana. She has the responsibility to ensure that the programmes run by the School are up to standard, in line with national and international standards, and appropriate to the human resource needs of her country.
  • Natalie Jellinek is Educational Development Officer at the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences (SLU), Sweden. She is project coordinator within educational development for “Innovative Doctoral Education for Global Food Security,” a collaborative capacity development project between SLU and several East African universities. Her main area of interest is higher education internationalization.
  • Veronica Trepagny, University of Borås, Sweden.
